How We Grow

We grow 100% of what you'll see at our market stands! We specialize in fresh-cut, ready-to-eat baby salad greens. Other favorites include carrots, tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, summer squash, cucumbers, head lettuce, garlic, chard, kale, eggplant, salad turnips, radishes, bok choy, and winter squash. In season, we also offer rhubarb and raspberries, as well as frequent surprises - we are always trying out new crops and varieties!

We grow all food on the farm with careful attention to the health of the people it feeds and the soil in which it grows. That means lots of cover crops, organic amendments, row cover, mulch, hand tools and human power (along with some strategic tractor and truck help for the heavy lifting). We focus on crops that grow well on our land and taste good to us and our customers.

We are proud to have MOFGA Certification Services independently verify and certify our organic practices.

In summer 2020, our farm was featured in the Maine Organic Farmer & Gardener. We encourage you to read this article if you would like a detailed look at our growing, recordkeeping and crop planning practices.

We were awarded the 2016 Conservation Award from the Penobscot County Soil & Water Conservation District! We have undertaken a number of conservation projects with the assistance of our county Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) office. Thanks to the S&WCD for choosing us and to the NRCS for supporting conservation work on small farms.
